Since 2004 F.I.S.H. has joined forces in cooperative efforts to educate the public on water resource conservation issues, as well as to preserve the Fishing tradition for present as well as future generations.

2004

  • Incorporation complete: Friends of the Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery, Inc. A Domestic Nonprofit Corporation established.-April 26

  • Special Needs from Mt. View Elementary visit hatchery for picnic and hands-on fishing event intended to teach and excite youth regardless of their handicap-May 7

  • Caged Feed machines welded by Thomas East of East Body Shop donated to Friends Group-June

  • Friends Workshop: The Southeast Regional National Wildlife Refuge System Friends workshop held at J.N."Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge System, Sanibel, FL- October 27-29

  • Carnivorous Plant Display Complete: Charles and Karen Gremillion donated several pitcher plants to improve WS Public Use Area; Friends donated poles and boat installed by USFWS-December 20

  • Regional Director's Award presented to Warm Springs National Fish Hatchery's Friends Group for outstanding community outreach and facility improvements- May 1

  • Amputee Summer Youth Camp held in Warm Springs: Amputee Coalition of America sponsored with Friends and staff of the hatchery assisting group fishing activity at the Roosevelt Institute for Rehabilitation-July 20

  • Biologist-in-Training Workshop (BiT): Wolf Creek NFH at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park; introducing new projects, innovative ideas and opportunities for implementing a more hands-on approach to Environmental awareness-October 23-25

  • America Recycles and so does F.I.S.H.-November 15

  • Candlelight Parade and OPEN HOUSE: Patrons asked to tour the facility, ask questions and enjoy some coffee and donuts donated by F.I.S.H. Friends-November 17
